WORKFLOW GUIDE · SALELEDGER

Find missing auction payments without forcing the books to balance

An auction deposit with no matching receipt, or a consignor payment that cleared for the wrong amount, needs an explanation. SaleLedger compares supported auction, accounting and bank exports and names the exceptions for your team to investigate.

Bring three records for the same period

Example: a check cleared for $500 more

In the fictional tutorial, the ledger records $27,200 for Consignor A, but the bank clears $27,700. The $500 difference appears as a disbursement mismatch. Check the original check, payout approval and any correction before deciding whether the bank record or the ledger needs attention. Do not issue another payment or change a balance just to remove the flag.

Distinguish missing money from missing records

ExceptionEvidence to checkNext action
Deposit has no ledger receiptBuyer reference, auction number, deposit slipLocate the omitted auction or receipt; do not invent a consignor allocation

What comes out of the review?

A three-way balance comparison, named exceptions and a check register. Preserve the original imports and the explanation for each corrected or outstanding item. SaleLedger supports reconciliation; it does not recover funds, resolve disputes or certify your accounts.

Does an unmatched deposit prove money is missing?

No. It may be an omitted receipt, a period mismatch or activity from another auction. Investigate the source before drawing a conclusion.

Can I see a report without starting a trial?

Yes. The public sample report and tutorial use fictional records and are available without an account.
